A Sizzling Summer with The Mint Julep Boutique!

For those of you still experiencing some crisp, cool weather and longing for warm days, you may want to take a trip down to the South.  It has already hit the 90s here in the Sunshine State and I am pulling out my tank tops, sundresses, and shorts.

One thing I have noticed about my pre-baby wardrobe?  Most of my clothing falls into one of two categories.  Either comfortable or cute.  Very few pieces cross over into being both.  Well... now that I have a toddler that has GOT TO change.  And I know just the place to go to get my new comfy AND fashionable wardrobe.

The Mint Julep Boutique is a women's boutique that literally has everything fashion related.  It is a one stop shop for Accessories, shoes, lingerie, dresses, tops, shorts, pants, skirts, casual, dressy, and everything in between.  I have literally spent hours browsing their website and drooling over their clothing.

I have found pieces here that are not only high quality, but also unique in design.  One piece in particular, the Anytime Tank in Orange and Purple, has become a Summer staple of mine already.

This bright, light tank top keeps me cool in the hot Florida weather: making it extremely comfortable AND gorgeous.   I often pair it with denim shorts since I have a very active little boy.  But as I was experimenting with different looks,  I found I could even dress it up a little with a skirt.

This tank also launders nicely and is still just as soft and vibrant after several washes in the washing machine.  I will definitely be shopping at The Mint more often and participating in their Facebook contests (they give away $15 gift certificates AND full outfits often!)

Summer with Sephora

With Memorial Day here, its really time for some beautiful, bright Summer looks.   And what better way to get ready than a trip to Sephora?

Sephora definitely is the place to go to find a wide variety of beauty items in one place.  There are a few steps we MUST take during the Summer months to help simplify our lives and Sephora definitely has all that you need to make your Summer look both beautiful and easy!

Step 1:  Cleanse Thoroughly

With the warmer weather, increased outdoor activity, and lots of sunscreen and bronzer, it is even more important to make sure you give your skin a clean slate at the end of the day.

Sephora's Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover is an easy and great way to get rid of your daily makeup without irritating your eyes or skin.  With just a few swipes of a cotton ball soaked in this stuff all of my eye makeup (mascara, eyeliner, shadow) was completely gone.  Besides being pretty with its blue liquid and sleek bottle, this product's formula is ultra gentle making it perfect for those with sensitive eyes and those who wear contacts.

One of my FAVORITE options for a quick, yet effective face cleansing is Sephora's Triple Action Cleansing Water.  Without using parabens, sulfates, and phthalates,  this water effectively cleanses skin simply in one step.  For when you're in a hurry or, like me some nights, just ready to go to bed, this no rinse cleanser is perfect for taking off everything that has settled into your skin during the day while leaving it feeling soft and refreshed.

Step 2:  Travel Light

Whether you're going to visit grandma or taking a relaxing trip to the beach, no one likes to lug around large, heavy items and luggage.  Having some go-to travel sized items can simplify both the packing process and your travels by providing the essentials without the bulk.

Sephora's Carnavale Brush Clutch is a cute and convenient way to carry makeup brushes.  This playful little clutch holds a travel sized powder brush, stippling brush, shadow brush, smudge brush, and liner brush.  Pretty much all of the essentials; making it so easy to grab and go.  Sephora's brushes are also very high quality and effective.  I love their brushes for both application and blending.  They feel soft and make creating any look so easy.

Step 3: Add Some Color

One thing that I don't like about the fall is all of the dark, dreary colors.  So its refreshing to see bright splashes of color when Summer finally gets here.  Another trend in makeup that has recently become super popular? Palettes.  Getting more than one product for your money not only seems more economical, but also makes organizing your make up and experimenting with different looks much easier.

Sephora's Bronzed and Blushing Face Palette is an amazing buy.  Many brands including Nars and Urban Decay have started putting out blush palettes... but for a pretty high price.  Sephora's palette is not only affordable, but the product is of high quality.   I especially love the Coral Punch blush for Summer.  Bright, smooth, and highly pigmented, this palette is definitely a must have for a fresh look.

Now for my favorite part of makeup-ing.  Eye makeup.  Eye Shadow palettes have definitely exploded over the past year.  Its the easiest way to visually plan and figure out what colors will blend together easily for a flawless look. Sephora's Color My Life Eye & Lip Makeup Palette is an excellent example of this.  This palette resembles a computer tablet while closed, but once opened, you will find a variety of looks at your finger tips.  Each row is comprised of 6 shadows and one lip color that all compliment each other.  Sephora even named the rows after events they are best suited for such as "Coffee Break," "Sunday Brunch," and "Date Night."  Go by the row or mix and match for a colorful, Summer look.

Step 4: Have Fun

Finding a new look or simply beautifying for the day should be enjoyable, not stressful! Find everything you need at your local Sephora or and have fun with it!

Baby Things are Mommy Things

This post is a full blown Mommy Post.  No other way to describe it.  I mean, we are talking the basic necessities of any mother of a baby/toddler.  Diapers and wipes.

Let me just start out by saying I am jealous of mom's who have kids who can use any diaper, any wipe, and wear "whatever was on sale."  Simply because my child is not one of them.  He gets diaper rash easily.  And not "oh its just a little pink"... no, no, he gets the its painful full blown "we may need to go to the doctor" rash.

Any diaper that has the lightly colored interior (usually labeled extra dry or something similar) will give him a rash.  Heavy duty wipes that have words like "clean" and "one" in the title will give him a rash.  Random generic diapers will give him a rash.

So when I was given the opportunity to try products from Seventh Generation, I jumped at it. I knew these diapers were free of synthetic fragrances and lotions and free of chlorine processing: Meaning I wouldn't have to worry about my son's skin reacting to the diapers.  One thing I wasn't sure about... Absorbancy.  My son tends to leak through diapers. A lot. So I knew I would be putting them to the test.

The result.  No rash, my son seemed comfortable, and they held up just as well as my overnight diapers. Definitely a quality product.  They are also the first FSC® Certified Diaper made in the United States.

The diapers definitely deserve all of the positive attention they get.  But I was also REALLY impressed with the wipes.  I know.  It sounds odd.  But after using thin wipes made by another name brand company, using these thick, sturdy, soft wipes was amazing.  I couldn't believe how great they felt and how well they worked.  One wipe cleaned up a mess that would take 5 wipes with the brand I had been using.

Moral of the story: With Seventh Generation you're not only getting safe, Eco-friendly products but you're also getting a very high quality, extremely effective product.   Which makes mommy life just a little bit easier.

Glamin' and Glowin'!

I FINALLY tried GlamGlow!  I've been wanting to try this mask for a loooong time, but wasn't willing to pay the high price tag just to see if I liked it or if it worked for my skin.  Sephora finally received samples of the GlamGlow and I jumped at the opportunity to try it out.  The "treatment" I tried is the SuperMud Clearing Treatment - the one that comes in the white container.

First off, putting this mud on I realized a little goes a long way.  I left the mask on for about 20 minutes and then looking in the mirror.  The mask had dried and made its way into my pores.  These pictures  were taken with my iPhone 4s and are unedited.  Hashtag no filter.

Once I rinsed the mask on with hot water, this is what I was left with.  Brighter, clear, GLOWING skin!  I love this product (but hate the price) and I have been trying to find a cheaper "dupe" for you all.  I haven't found it yet, but in the meantime I have ordered the "Sample Sexy" package off of GlamGlow's website for $11.99 (free shipping.)  You can also find this product on Amazon, though I am a little weary since some people have reported receiving used, expired, and dried product. Yuck.

So until I find a product that is similar, I will be using my sample packets sparingly.  And loving the glow!

Summer Essentials - Rehab

No, not THAT rehab!  I'm talking about SKIN rehab.  As in COVERGIRL + Olay Eye Rehab Concealer and COVERGIRL + Olay Tone Rehab 2-in-1 Foundation.  With these two products your face is sure to glow all Summer, without having to wear any heavy makeup or endure harsh, expensive treatments.

Both of these products are super hydrating and include Olay serum.  And you all already know I am a huge Olay fan.   With a light, silky smooth texture, the foundation instantly corrects skin while providing the desirable effect of looking naturally refreshed.  The concealer covers dark circles while moisturizing the under eye area giving a completely rejuvenated, bright eyed look.

I love both of these products for Summer since they are light weight and best of all, produce lasting tone correcting effects with time.  Unlike most makeup (which only covers the problem), the products in the Rehab line actually correct the problem with continued use.  Making it not only an instant solution to skin issues but also a lasting one.

This product also doesn't irritate my skin.  After wearing it daily for about a week, I am proud to report my skin is still happy and I haven't experienced any sort of breakout or redness. It can be difficult to find products that keep my skin calm so this is a definite win in my book.

One again, COVERGIRL passes my test and has created another amazing product that is sure to become a regular in my makeup routine. So like I said, everyone could use a little rehab ;o)

April Obsessions/ Favorites

I feel like I have A LOT of obsessions this month.  So I decided to do a quick written list instead of a video.  There are beauty and non beauty items on the list this month.  Enjoy!

1.  Suave Keratin Infusion Heat Defense Leave-In Conditioner

Love how it makes my hair smooth and shiny without a residue feeling.  Of course there is room for improvement, but for the price this is a great product.

2. Petunia Pickle Bottom Touring Bag

This is my new diaper bag.  After breaking my Skip Hop Versa, I decided I needed to invest in a high quality bag for my every day use since apparently I am rough on them.  Luckily this particular style was on sale on Amazon and I received it for around $60. It is compacts (the size of a large purse) but holds a lot and keeps me organized.

3.   SuperGoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35

Now that the warm weather has hit, I am once again loving my SuperGoop! CC cream.  This cream provides great coverage and sun protection and hasn't irritated my skin yet.  I provides a lot of coverage and is definitely great for those looking to hide blemishes without using a heavy foundation.

4.  Urban Decay  Naked Skin Beauty Balm BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 20

This is another great makeup option for warmer weather.  This BB is a little more moisturizing than  the SuperGoop! and the coverage is definitely buildable.  I love the flawless look this BB gives.

 5. Physicians Formula Super CC+ SPF 30

Can you tell I love BB / CC Creams?  This is a great product that is a little more affordable than the ones listed above. Again, this has great coverage and it doesn't make me break out!

6. Covet Fashion App

This is a "game" that is so addicting.  Its pretty much like high tech paper dolls. I love the "fashion event" challenges and different accessories.

7. Sesame Street Slumber Flip Sofa

My son loves to lounge on this while watching T.V.  Anything that can get him to sit down for more than 2 minutes is great with me.  It also doubles as a bed for sleep overs when he is a bit older.

8. EstroBlock

This is the ONLY product that has completely cleared up my horrible cystic acne breakouts.  I took it for about 2 months and I'm currently seeing if I can have clear skin without it.  If the acne comes back, you better believe I will be taking EstroBlock again.  (See my full review here)

9.  Olay Pro-X Anti Aging Starter Kit

Olay has been promoting this product like crazy lately.  Just for the record, I really do love it.  My skin looks healthier and feels great.  Full review coming soon!

10. Skin By Ann Webb Cleanser, Spearmint Tea

I started getting more surface blemishes after my cystic ones cleared up.  So I started using this cleanser with my Olay cleansing brush and it cleared them right up! I love the minty smell and one tube lasts awhile.

11. Jergens Natural Glow

Love this for beautiful Summer legs!  An easy, safe, fool proof way for a nice, even Summer tan.  See my full review here.

12. Dial Vitamin Boost Super C Oil Infused Body Wash

I use this body wash daily.  Its super yummy and refreshing without sacrificing moisture.  See my full review here.

Summer Essentials - Fresh, Clean Skin

Even the most low maintenance of us have some form of the net beauty product.  After all, cleanliness is very important to all... especially this time of year.

With the weather getting warmer, we may or may not be getting a little bit sweaty... and stinky.  When the weather turns warm I tend to leave my heavy, musky perfumed products behind for light, crisp scents.

So one of the many things I switch up when that 80-90 degree weather hits?  My body wash.  For some reason vanilla, soft scents are no longer appealing.  And I usually crave something much more energizing with a cleaner feel but still want the same amount of moisture.

My choice body wash this Summer?  Dial's Vitamin Boost Super C Oil Infused Body Wash.  There are many, many reasons to love this wash.  Its affordable and comes in a LARGE bottle; making it a great value.   I also notice the way it leaves my skin feeling.  I feel refreshed as it washes away the day yet still have  very soft, moisturized skin.  My absolute favorite part of this body wash is... the scent.   I LOVE Citrus scents that actually smell like real citrus.  Its so fresh, vibrant...and, I'll say it, happy.  I will never again  fork over big bucks for that tiny bottle of expensive body wash when  Dial provides the same quality for a fraction of the cost.  The Florida heat has already set in and I'm smelling yummy and ready to take on the day.
